Mr. Boots & Snow

Above is a shot of a black/white Tuxedo cat, whom we dubbed "Boots". He drops by to have a snack and play with our outside kittie, Snow, from time to time. He's a very handsome fellow and has finally gotten brave enough to allow us to pet him on occasion.  As for Snow, what can I say - she's a doll baby with one yellow and one partially blue eye. She showed up during a  snow storm, cold and hungry, this past winter and has decided to stick around. We don't mind in the least, since she has brought us much joy with her antics and loving nature.

Sunrise

Sunrise at Hunting Island, SC. Love this place and hope to return again soon!

Autumn Views

This is our beautiful orange and white tabby, named "Cheeto".  He is our little camping buddy!  I captured this image of him peering out the camper window at me, while on a Fall trip to Cumberland Gap State Park, near Middlesboro, Ky.

Stone Tree/Sheldon Church

This image was taken at the historic Sheldon Church, near Beaufort, SC. A tree had actually grown around a stone column, encasing it in its bark. I had never seen anything like this in my life, and had to capture this image so that everyone would believe me.  Truly amazing!!

Below is a picture of Sheldon Church, a magnificent ruin that I enjoyed photographing for some time.

Antique Rose

I captured this amazing image of a perfect rose covered in dew a few years back. I used Photoshop to give it an antique look, while keeping and highlighting the color of this amazing rose. I was so tickled with how this image turned out!

The Methodist Cemetery

Cemetery at 1820's church in Burke Garden, VA.  Some tombstones date back to the 1700's and many had no markings. There was a very interesting collection of markers in this huge cemetery.

Closing In

The Battle at Reuben Brook's Farm, in Elizabethton, TN, which I attended last month. I captured this image of the Union troops closing on a lone Confederate soldier.

"God's Land"

Fascinating old general store/post office in Burke's Garden, no longer in operation. Above the door, the plaque reads "Burke's Garden, VA. "God's Land". This mountain top was truly beautiful and so quiet and peaceful; like visiting another place in time - a place that time literally forgot to take with it.

Red Door

Another image taken in beautiful Burke's Garden in Tazewll, VA.  I found this very old church, built in the 1820's, with a red door, and couldn't resist this special effect's image. It turned out even better than I had hoped for.

Sailboat

Lovely lake scene at Claytor Lake. The water was so blue and pretty and the trees were showing off their Fall colors in abundance. Perfect day for sailing. Lots of photo ops and we enjoyed a beautiful week's stay at this State Park, near Dublin, Va.

Red Barn w/ Horses

I captured this picture while out and about in Fall Branch the day after a big snow, this past January. I came upon this beautiful image of horses and a red barn and started clicking. This is one of my favorite images from that day.

Rolling Hills

This is one of the views I mentioned in my profile, taken close to where I live, in Fall Branch. There are lots of rolling hills and beautiful fields. I used a filter on this one to "simplify" it, which gives it a painted effect. I really love this image!

Sunflower

This is a beautiful sunflower that sadly was blown over during a wind storm. I was grateful to be able to capture this picture of it in its blossoming stage before it died.

Dragonfly

I photographed this beautiful dragonfly at Rural Retreat Campground, in Va. I used digital zoom and the camera was hand held. Remarkable detail for such an attempt and I was very pleased with this capture.

What remains.....

One of my fascinating discoveries on an isolated section of beach at Hunting Island....what is left of a once majestic tree, stripped bear and weathered by the wind, sand, water and time - standing proud as to say "I'm not finished yet". Perhaps it was just waiting for someone to come along and capture this image so it could remain forever, if only in a photograph.....

Carver's Gap

This image was taken during our last camping trip to Roan Mtn., TN.  A storm moved through and then the sun came out and shone on the mountain. Beautiful!
